Tips to Get Hired by Your Dream Company

Overview

In this video, Mr Paritosh Sharma, Chief Learning Officer of Bada Business Pvt. Ldt. explains 14 resources for college students to get hired.

Learnings

A lot of college students are not able to get a job because they don’t understand where to apply. The resources in the video are very critical and exciting and they will help you to get a job.

#1 AIESEC

It is a global organisation and a lot of college students are a member of this organisation. If you are not part of this, register yourself today.

  • This organisation sends students from all across the world to different countries for internships.
  • After joining the organisation, your vision will expand and you will get to know a lot of people.
  • You can even attend their events for solid networking and successful student life.

#2 Job Sites

Here is a list of 8 job sites where you can register yourself to get a job:

#3 LinkedIn.com

It is the world’s biggest professional social network.

#4 Niche Groups in Social Networks

Do you know that on Facebook there are many groups that you can join for opportunities?

  • Many groups also provide freelance opportunities.
  • When COVID-19 is over, a lot of people will look for freelance opportunities as there is no job security.

#5 Freelance Websites

Some websites are:

  • Freelance.com
  • Elance.com

There are many such websites in the world where you can find freelance opportunities.

For example, if you have a skill of building a website or designing or content writing or any skill that can be done from home, make a profile on these websites and you will start getting work.

#6 Internship Websites

The 3 websites from where you can get internships are:

  • Internshala.com
  • Letsintern.com
  • Glassdoor.com

Make a profile on these websites and apply for internships. Many times, students feel that they are in the fourth year and are about to get a job, and hence there is no need to work as an intern.

Ideally, from your 1st year to 4th year, you must do at least 2 internships every year even if you are not getting any stipend for it.

Golden Statement:

An internship is a great way to get a dream job for yourself

#7 Recruitment agencies

If other things are not working for you, you can go to recruitment agencies to get a job.

Here are 2 recruitment agencies:

  • ABC Consultants
  • Randstad India

Go to their websites and register yourself with an updated resume. A lot of companies access these websites to hire for different roles and these recruitment companies call you if they come across a relevant opportunity. They basically bridge the gap between you and your dream job.

#8 Networking

It means how many people you know.

Golden statement:

Your network is your net worth

  • You will progress in life only when you know relevant people.
  • The company you keep matters, if your company is interesting, you will move ahead. If your company is bad and your network is not good, you won’t be able to achieve anything.
  • During your college, you must remember that networking should consistently go on in your life.

#9 Proactive Value Creation

Many college students forget that it is not easy to get a job these days.

  • Many students proactively work on many interesting projects on their own.
  • They create research reports and white papers on their own and then submit them to HR heads, finance heads, and senior leadership of companies.
  • You should also start doing so. If in 1 semester, you manage to write 2 good reports and it gets co-published with a big HR head, you will definitely get a job.
  • You will be amongst the cream of the cream and will be considered as a proactive person.

#10 Company Pages

If you visit LinkedIn.com, you will see there are many company pages and companies consistently update jobs there. Go to these pages and apply for a job. Also, along with the job update, the name of the publisher is also mentioned. You can connect with him on LinkedIn.
